The world is cold and the Old Rock House is warm in spirit with lots of familiar faces and great bands who are coming through as the year rolls on. We have plenty to offer as far as shows go, either on a One time show, monthly, or weekly basis. And the crowds are growing more diverse as the weeks roll on and our booking manager, Brian Nolan is trying his hardest to win a national-level artist to put us on the map.
1. Kind Tuesdays with the Schwag: a weekly show, every Tuesday. The best in Grateful Dead tributes, and a St. Louis favorite. Maybe its the meditation that the band ingests before hitting the stage, in our cigar lounge that makes the place wreak of humility and a soft comfort that is nag champa, jam sessions and the words once played by Jerry Garcia himself...inside this place. As the weeks go on, more and more people (mostly young adults) come in to see the lighting, feel the groove and sway with about 200 other people feeling the same reaction to what being Kind is all about. You should come by and sway with us sometime. Starting 8pm, every Tuesday.
2. On a monthly basis, Suite Soul Spot is putting the groove in our venue every 2nd Wednesday of the month. Vanita Applebum has been placing much thought into hosting an R&B event that will get people on the floor dancing and singing along while they attend this monthly event. The SSS is only growing. With names well-known like Teresa Payne and Kenny DeShields, its only a bright future ahead for the Old Rock House and this kind of soiree that is anticipated and well planned for the months ahead.
3. Scion drops by monthly. Yes, the car company--they not only are taking over the world of automobiles, but now Scion is getting Hip Hop out there in another type of vehicle--touring venues across the USA. Bun B of UGK has already made his presence known in our venue, and this month we look forward to the Beatnuts performing live with Connie Price and the Keystones(actually this Saturday.) All shows are FREE, with registration and RSVP to scion.com/livemetros: this acts like a guestlist for all who sign up, and there are no scams involved---they dont even make you buy a new car. Awesome reaction to the big names coming through and we are more than grateful to be a part of this fantastic event.
4. Cafe Soul is also on a monthly schedule with us. This month being the first month to actually host them, they will be bringing the R&B on the last Saturday of each month. This one, January 31st. You must attend! Very similar to Suite Soul Spot, Cafe Soul is a locally-based R&B group who insists on getting nothing but the best of our city's artists. Great for Saturday Date Night!

Welcome 2009!
Greetings from the Old Rock House!
First of all, so happy to be welcoming in a new year, with a lot of changes happening around our establishment. Please, if you have not dropped by for a show, lunch, happy hour, or dinner please set your GPS to 1200 S. 7th St., St. Louis, MO 63104. What an amazing New Year's Eve party we had. The most we have ever rang in with our business all because we know how to have a great time. Madahoochi and Speakeasy on the bill, as well as a champagne toast celebration FREE to the paid in, and all things went smoothe.
Not only the changes happening over the last year have been quite productive, but 2009 is bringing in an abundance of 'new' for the Old Rock House. New bands, new faces, new specials, new additions, and most importantly, a new direction.
If you have stumbled upon this blog and have never heard of us, or need more info: please go to our website: www.oldrockhousestl.com or be our friend and hear about upcoming shows at www.myspace.com/theoldrockhouse
We look forward to this year and hopefully to your business.
Stay tuned for more blogging and rants about the Old Rock House, Saint Louis.
